After a good day yesterday, i hope for another profitable day. I am going to stick with Uttoxeter today as i think there are a couple of interesting horses there. The first horse i like runs in the 3:30 called What Luck. This horse is still a maiden and has relatively poor form, is also an 8 year old so a long time to be a maiden but was trained by Richard Phillips and Tim Vaughan last season. S Curran has now been training the horse and its his first run for this yard tomorrow so we might see a decent run in what is a poor enough race. What is sort of baffling me is that the first run he is having is in a selling hurdle. So why buy a horse and put him straight into a selling hurdle? My guess is that they bought him, get him really fit and well, try and get him to win on his first outing, sell the horse for more than what he was bought for along with the money they have on the horse. I think they might be out to do a job tomorrow and they have a very handy 7 pound claimer on board with Anthony Freeman. He was 2nd of 17 in a 3 mile race on good to firm ground at Bangor last year and was also 3rd of 11 over 3 miles on good to firm at Worcester 2 runs back last September which suggests to me that the ground and trip are no problem whatsoever tomorrow so at the forecast 14/1 i think its worth a small wager. 1 Point e/w.
Next to the 4:00 Uttoxeter i really think General Smith has a major chance tomorrow. This horse is potentially very well in on the weights and ran an absolute blinder in its last run when 5th of 17 to Exulto and that was a very competitive race, and he could have finished much closer i feel only for being held up for too long. Ran off 91 that day , runs off 90 tomorrow in what is a substantially weaker race so must go close if running to the same form. Has won twice over this distance of 2 miles. Has won off a mark of 96 before and has run off a mark as high as 105 so i think he has a super chance tomorrow if kept up with the pace at a forecast 7/1. 4 Point Win.
Finally the last horse i like runs in the 4:30 by the name of Our Jim. This horse was very impressive when winning by a distance at Wetherby last spring and that was over 3 miles 1 furlong. Why i like this horse's chances tomorrow is because on his two outings since that success, he ran over 2 miles 4 furlongs and still ran very respectably but i think he needs a longer trip and he has got that tomorrow with 3 miles 2 furlongs. The ground should be no problem as he has won on good before, the trip i feel is right up his alley and the jockey in form at the moment , Jason Maguire , takes the ride and at the forecast 8/1 i think is a solid each way bet. 2 Points e/w.
